Hey Guys, I am new here and I would like some advice. Currently I am working in a planetarium and multimedia theater at an office of education. I am there multimedia technician. I deal more with still photos than actual video. Eventually I want to edit television shows and/or commercials and/or movies. I want to learn how to use after effects. What tutorials or books or whatever should I get to learn After effects. Also, I am not a mac user currently, is it the industry standard for my type of work. Thanks for any advice guys.

With regards to Mac or PC, my advice is always to go with what you can afford and are comfortable with. Unless there's a specific program that you have to have the Mac for that you have to learn to get a job you're looking at, the differences between a Mac environment and a PC environment are minimal enough where a few good hours on one or the other are usually enough to acclimate you pretty well to the change.

As for whether it's an industry standard, the industry standard is typically "whatever works well for 'x'", 'x' being the individual, company, or process involved. There's even a fairly healthy mix of environments in some situations, where Macs are the studio based solution and PCs the on-the-road solution, or vice-versa.
