What are the video requirements of 2021? - Student Filmmakers Magazine

  A few years ago, all videos were on landscape format, now I see more and more are on portrait format to fit better on smartphones. This is why I am a bit confusded and I am unsure of which video format should I go for, considering that so many people only use smartphones these days to view content online.

  There is no standard answer for your question. To be honest, you choose the format based on what you are shooting your video for: is it TikTok or Instagram Reel? Then go for the vertical format. Is it youtube? Then go for the landscape format. Is it an assignment for Uni? Unless your teacher mentions otherwise, you should also go for the landscape format as well.

  I agree with Julia here. Requirements depend on where you plan on posting your video. You can’t have the same requirements for TikTok and for a Film Festival for example.
