That belief was tested immediately: within six months of launch, the magazine reached 24,000 BPA-audited subscribers, thanks to a team that understood the industry from the inside and a community of filmmakers who showed up for it from day one.
Rooted In the Industry, Not Beside It
Our roots trace back to Miller Freeman/United Entertainment Media, working at the center of the media and broadcast world before StudentFilmmakers Magazine existed. In the 25 years since, that same hands-on presence has continued at the industry's biggest gatherings—NAB, UFVA, and IBC—staying in direct contact with where cinema and broadcast are actually headed, alongside long-standing working relationships built with Apple, Adobe, Sony, Panasonic, Canon, and the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC).
None of that happened in a vacuum. It took industry professionals, educators, collaborators, and above all, the filmmakers in this community whose questions, feedback, and active production work shaped what StudentFilmmakers.com became.
