Free Horror Filmmaking Webinar with Cinematographer Roy Wagner

StudentFilmmakers.com is kicking off October with a special **free horror filmmaking webinar featuring veteran cinematographer Roy Wagner**.

In this webinar, Roy shares practical lessons from more than 50 years behind the camera, including his work in horror and supernatural filmmaking. He discusses how filmmakers can build suspense, use darkness and shadows effectively, control what the audience sees, and use camera movement, framing, location, and point of view to create fear.

Roy also explores the importance of setup in horror storytelling, why revealing too much can weaken suspense, and how filmmakers can use visual choices to keep audiences uncertain and engaged.

What You’ll Learn

– How to build suspense before the scare
– Why shadows and darkness are powerful filmmaking tools
– How location can function as a character
– How point of view can make an audience feel vulnerable
– Why camera movement should always serve the story
– Roy Wagner’s approach to the “rule of three” in horror

The webinar is available **free inside the Student Filmmakers Academy** and includes a short quiz.
